My band/watch screen doesn't turn on or responds slowly when I rotate or raise my wrist
Perform operations based on the following scenarios.
My band/watch screen responds slowly when I rotate or raise my wrist
- It is recommended that you keep the screen of the band/watch facing up and wear it tightly behind your wrist bone to prevent it from sliding.
- Keep your wrist horizontal then quickly tilt your wrist by 30–90 degrees. The screen should turn on in less than 1 second.
- Tilt your wrist by 30–90 degrees when you raise your arm. The screen should turn on in less than 1 second.
- When rotating or raising your wrist, move the screen toward your face.
- Some watch faces may affect the time it takes to raise your wrist to turn on the screen. We recommend that you use a preinstalled watch face to improve the sensitivity of the screen turning on when you raise your wrist.
- When you are lying down, place your hands at both sides of your body and raise your wrist to turn on the screen. Alternatively, you can place your hand in front of your chest and rotate your wrist by 30–90 degrees to turn on the screen.

If this issue occurs, perform the following operations:
- Update the version of the watch
Check whether your watch is running the latest version. If not, update it to the latest version and try again.
- Enable Raise to wake.
Open the Huawei Health app, touch Devices and then your device, and turn on the switch for Raise to wake. If you are using the HUAWEI Band 4e, turn on both Raise to wake and Rotate to switch screen.
If you are using a watch in the HUAWEI WATCH 3 series, enable Raise to wake (enabled by default). Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Gestures> Raise to wake and turn on the switch.
- Check whether Do not disturb mode is enabled or a period for this mode is scheduled.
Swipe down from the home screen to open the shortcut menu, and turn off the switch for Do not disturb mode. To do this, go to Settings > Do not disturb to turn off the switch or disable the period for this mode, or open the Huawei Health app, touch Device settings then your device name, and disable this mode.
- Exit Sleep status/Sleep mode
To ensure that your sleep is not affected by light from the screen, Raise to wake is not available in Sleep mode. Your watch/band will not have exited Sleep mode and Raise to wake will not be available just after you wake up. Press the side button on your watch/band or the virtual button on your band to exit Sleep mode and try Raise to wake again.
When you are inactive, your watch will enter Sleep mode by default. In this case, you will not be able to raise your wrist to wake the screen.
If you are using a HUAWEI WATCH 3 series, disable Sleep mode. Swipe down from the watch face screen to open the shortcut menu, and disable Sleep mode.
- Disable the standby watch face
If you have set a standby watch face, disable the standby watch face on the settings screen and try Raise to wake again.
- Restore the device to its factory settings
Restoring your device to its factory settings will clear all data from your device. Please refer to Syncing data to the cloud before you perform this operation.
If the issue persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
