If this issue occurs, perform the following operations.
Enable the permission to access contacts
Once you have paired your band/watch with your phone, it will be automatically granted permission to access your phone's contacts. When you receive an incoming call and the contact name has been saved to the SIM card or as a phone contact, the caller's name will be displayed. If the contact name has not been saved, the caller's number will be displayed. For some contacts, if the contact name is sometimes displayed and the number is sometimes displayed, it may be because you have accidentally denied permission to access your phone's contacts. Perform operations based on the following scenarios.
Pairing with an iOS phone:
- Open the Bluetooth list on your phone, touch the exclamation mark next to the name of your band/watch to enter the Settings screen, and enable Sync Contacts.
Pairing with an Android phone:
- Open the Bluetooth list on your phone, touch the exclamation mark next to the name of your band/watch to enter the Settings screen, and enable Contact sharing.
- On your phone, go to Settings > Apps > Huawei Health app > Permissions > Contacts, and touch Allow. (This may vary depending on your phone model. For details, contact your phone manufacturer.)
- Unpair your band/watch from your phone, then pair them again. Allow your band/watch to access your phone contacts when you pair your band with your phone.
Check whether the contact name contains special characters
If the contact name contains special characters, your watch/band may not be able to identify them. In this case, your watch/band will not display the contact name but will display the phone number instead. We recommend that you use normal characters for contact names.
Make sure that the contacts on the phone do not include the country code
When the storing contacts include the country code in front of the number on the watch, the name will not be displayed in the incoming call. Delete the country code in your phone, and the contacts will be synchronized to the watch automatically.
Save phone numbers to the phone memory
We recommend that you save phone numbers to the phone memory. The band/watch will access the contacts in the phone memory first and then those in the SIM card.
Add the contact to your favorites
Add the contact to your favorites on your phone.
Using the HONOR 10 as an example, go to Dial > Save to Favorites, touch the + icon, and add the contact to your favorites.
- Due to its small screen size, the HUAWEI Band 3e only notifies you of new calls, and it does not display the caller name or phone number.
- The Huawei TalkBand B5 does not display caller names for contacts stored on SIM 2.
- If you are using a Vivo phone, update your phone to the latest version and try again. For detailed instructions, contact your phone manufacturer.
